PTT Installer 1 has been designed as the 'foundation stone' component of our PTT Part P Preparation Course and is aimed at those who have no previous experience in the electrical industry.
This course best suits those who are looking for a change in career or for people seeking employment in the electrical industry for the first time.
Details:
The first part of the course introduces the candidate to basic electrical theory. The practical element of the course allows candidates to build and test the majority of electrical circuits found in domestic premises.
Each student will have a spacious work area and all circuits installed will be tested and energized.

- Basic Electricity - 1.5 days

AC theory - frequency, capacitance and inductive reactance

Magnetism - permanent and electromagnets

Transformers

Basic Practical - 3.5 days

Wire types and sizes

Cable preparation and termination

Wiring systems

Protective devices - fuses and circuit breakers

Understanding and constructing a ring and radial power circuit

Understanding and constructing one and two way lighting circuits

Testing of all circuits constructed

Continuity and insulation resistance testing

Testing of earth loop impedance and fault current

RCD testing
