How to comply

 

There are two ways of complying with Part P.

One is to register any proposed work with the local council planning department, allowing them to oversee and finally approve the new work.

The other alternative is to become Part P registered.

To become a Part P registered electrician the applicant will be required to meet the standards set be the registering body. These vary slightly but will include, among other things:

City & Guilds 2382 – BS7671 Wiring Regulations Certificate

The inspection of an example of the applicant’s work, including the
Installation Certificate complete with inspection and test results. The applicant may be asked to demonstrate his ability to carry out testing.

For those applicants who are not familiar with the inspection and test requirements of BS7671 we recommend they consider taking the
City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Test certificate.
