As the world transitions towards a more sustainable future, the demand for skilled professionals in the renewable energy sector is soaring. However, because it is a specialist area, it is vital that electricians who provide renewable energy installation and maintenance are suitably qualified and certified to comply with electrical regulations and ensure their customers get the most from their systems.
At PTT, we offer a range of accredited courses in renewable energy from globally-recognised institutions, such as City & Guilds, EAL, and LCL, which will equip you with the knowledge, understanding, and skills to forge a successful and rewarding career in this field. So, what can you expect from your renewable energy training course?
C&G 2921 Level 3 Award in the Design and Installation of Domestic and Small Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Installations
This comprehensive City & Guilds course provides detailed guidance and recommendations on all aspects of the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment, including electrical supply, distribution, circuitry, equipment installation, and cabling. Also covered are issues relating to site layout, planning and inspection, testing, certification, and maintenance.
The qualification includes additional methods of protecting against open PEN conductor faults and how to assess if an installation has an issue with diverted neutral current. It also covers smart functions in EVSE and relevant items within the installation as a whole.
LCL Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Small Scale Solar PV Systems
The LCL Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Small Scale Solar PV Systems is suitable for electrical professionals who wish to earn a nationally recognised qualification in the installation and maintenance of small-scale photovoltaic (PV) systems. Based upon National Occupational Standards, the course is approved by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
By undertaking the course, electricians will learn about all aspects of solar PV panel installation and maintenance, including:
Health and safety risks
Electrical and safety regulations
The differences between AC and DC circuits.
Solar PV system components.
Module array size and positioning.
Preparatory work for installing solar PV panels.
Circuit layouts.
Testing and handover
LCL Level 3 Electrical Energy Storage Systems
This qualification covers the design, installation, and commissioning of dedicated electrical energy storage systems (EESS), and complies with the IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems. Upon successfully completing the course, trainees will:
Understand the main requirements for the installation of EESS.
Be able to identify equipment, arrangements, and operating modes of EESS.
Understand the preparation of EESS design and installation and prepare correctly.
Conduct initial verification and handover of EESS.
