Overview
Through presentation, tuition, and practical exercises and assessments this 4-day training course will provide the relevant knowledge and practical skills to enable engineers to work safely using appropriate practices, procedures and equipment to install, inspect, test and maintain DC power systems on a variety of telecoms installations.
The course is concluded with a formal set of practical and theoretical assessments.
This course has been developed in consultation with all the major telecoms network providers.
Who should attend?
Field engineers, electricians (without DC experience)*, technicians or riggers responsible for the installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of telecoms DC powered equipment.
*Formerly trained electricians have the option to attend a reduced version of the course.
Learning Outcomes:
- Ability to recognise the key elements of a typical telecoms DC power system
- Demonstrate the relevant procedures for the correct selection of equipment, safe installation, inspection and testing of equipment and cabling
- Understand and identify the risks associated with live working on DC systems
- Understand the correct procedures for managing those risks.
