Electrical Inspection and Testing are fundamental to confirm the safety of an installation. PTT offer two City & Guilds qualifications in this subject. Both courses cover similar content but from two distinct angles. One trains electricians in initial testing and verification of new electrical installations, while the other focuses on periodic inspection and testing of existing installations. Both are useful courses to enrich the skills of independent electricians and contracting businesses to undertake a wider range of electrical works and assignments.

C & G Level 3 Award In Initial Verification Of Electrical Installations (C&G 2391-50)
This awarded City and Guilds course takes place over four days and covers all the requirements of BS 7671 inspection, testing, and certification. The course material is geared toward electricians performing initial verification for various electrical installations, and includes practice on training rigs to help candidates gain greater proficiency in inspection and testing procedures and the completion of an electrical insulation certificate. The course includes two practical assessments, written questions, and a 90-minute open book exam with multiple choice questions. On successful completion, the candidate will receive their City and Guilds 2391-50 qualification.
Prerequisites: prior knowledge of the latest wiring regulations relating to inspection, testing, and certification is strongly recommended, although this is not a mandatory entry requirement.
Alternatives: we also offer the EAL 4337 qualification, which is the equivalent of this course. Please confirm if you wish to take the C&G or EAL version on booking.
C & G Level 3 Award In Periodic Inspection And Testing Of Electrical Installations (C&G 2391-51)
This four-day level 3 award covers all the requirements of BS 7671 for periodic inspections of electrical installations. Participants will acquire the knowledge and skills they need to carry out periodic inspections and testing procedures, using purpose-built training rigs to simulate various wiring faults and installation scenarios. Trainees will come away with a thorough knowledge of testing procedures and the use of testing instruments, as well as proficiency in completing an electrical installation condition report.
Like the initial verification training, to pass the course, trainees must complete a practical assessment, a short, written question paper, and a 90-minute open-book multichoice exam.
Prerequisites: we recommend some previous experience in inspection and testing techniques, and trainees would benefit from having the latest City & Guilds Wiring Regulations qualification before taking this course.
Alternatives: the EAL equivalent to this course is EAL 4338. Please let us know if you are interested in the EAL or C&G award on booking your training.
There is the option to do a combined qualification that includes both initial and periodic inspections which is the C&G2391-52 or the EAL equivalent.
